WE DESIGN YOUR STORY
BEAUTY FOR ASHES
When you look at this beautiful symphony of diamonds collected in the detail of this ring, you have probably guessed that this ring has one beautiful story to it. One that makes you cry and smile alike. As a design studio, it's always an immense privilege to be part of the process behind sharing and telling our client's stories.
For Barry and Kelly, their 11 years of marriage have not always been easy. After four years of marriage, Kelly had come to the realisation that her husband had a serious drug addiction. After that which was in the dark had come to the light, things escalated pretty quickly. She was completely unaware of his addiction before they got married.
Shortly after, Barry went to rehab and has been clean for more than 6 years now! The Lord gave them the scripture in Joel 2:25 where He promises and proclaims to restore the years the locusts had stolen. Kelly recalls one of the lowest points for Barry was forgetting his wife at work, where she had to walk at 7 months pregnant to pick up their child at daycare.
Their daughter Hannah's favorite flower is an arum lily of which Barry then got a tattoo of to remind him of Kelly's support. We decided to incorporate this element into the design of her ring.
Our designer started working on a design for the ring and received the inspiration for an asymmetrical design to depict the transformation taking place before and after their marriage complications. The design contains one lily on the left (the before) which indicated a glimpse of the beauty that is to come. The design further accentuates the transformation process during their marriage by capturing the trials and challenges through more dark cognac diamonds on the left. BUT, towards the right, the scene changes dramatically. The lilies start blossoming and become a field that flourishes. The many white diamonds on the right accentuate the transformation, the lightness, and the glory in which Barry and Kelly walk in now.
“To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.”
- Isaiah 61:3
HOW IT’S MADE
9ct Rose Gold Asymmetrical Ring with White and Cognac Diamonds
Everything we make and sell has its roots in skilled design and craftsmanship. This ring began with a hand-drawn sketch that was skillfully conceptualized. Our hand-drawn sketches were then transformed into 3D equivalents by a CAD designer for a more realistic visual depiction. The design is then slowly brought to life by creating an exact 3D replica of the conceptualized design using a 3D wax printer. This 3D wax model is merely a prototype that is mounted on a wax tree in order to be prepared for the following design stage, which is casting.
