At Miinella Jewellery, we believe your jewellery should be as enduring as the memories you create with it. Each piece is thoughtfully crafted from high-quality precious metals—like sterling silver, solid gold, and platinum—designed to last a lifetime and beyond. Naturally, with wear, your favourite pieces may lose a little of their original shine. Whether you're gently polishing a beloved pair of earrings or refreshing the glow of a treasured ring, here’s our simple guide to keeping your Miinella jewellery looking as radiant as the day you got it.

Silver is a beautiful metal, but it can tarnish quickly when exposed to air, moisture, pollution, or chemicals like bleach. To keep your silver shining:
Store silver in an airtight container or anti-tarnish pouch when not in use or store in the original Miinella packaging.
Remove your jewellery before applying moisturizer or perfume as this can oxidise silver.
Take off your rings before weightlifting or rock climbing
Silver naturally tarnish over time. For deeper cleaning, use a silver polishing cloth or our jewellery dip, both available in our shop.

Gold is durable and relatively low-maintenance, but it still benefits from a little extra care:
Clean with warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry.
Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can scratch the surface.
White gold is rhodium-plated to achieve its bright, silvery finish. Over time, this plating will wear down and may need to be reapplied by a jeweller to restore its original lustre.
Rose gold contains copper, which may cause the colour to deepen slightly over time — a natural change that adds character to the piece.

Platinum is one of the most durable and low-maintenance precious metals:
It doesn’t tarnish and can be easily cleaned with mild soap and water.
Its natural whiteness won’t fade, so there’s no need for re-plating.
Though platinum is dense and durable, tiny surface scratches can appear over time. A professional polish will restore its original shine.

Gold is durable and relatively low-maintenance, but it still benefits from a little extra care:
Put on jewellery after applying makeup, perfume, or hairspray.
Before diving into any hands-on, high-impact tasks, (eg. weight-lifting, rock climbing or home renovation projects), it’s a good idea to remove your rings as a precaution. Even though precious metals are durable, they’re not indestructible—repeated knocks can cause wear over time.
Proper care keeps your jewellery radiant for years to come. If you need a little help, our polishing cloths and jewellery dip are simple, effective tools to add to your jewellery care routine.
